Artist Statement

MadameFraankie’s photographic work is centered around recontextualizing the day to day documentation of black life. She is drawn to highlighting the many ways Black people navigate space and time while spending a great deal on gestures and communal forms of touch. MadameFraankie’s work draws comparison of these themes of documentation against the social and ethical norms within American Culture as a means to reshape black narration and photographic storytelling.
